MCS certification
No certification, no SEG income and no 0% VAT relief. Every job is signed off against MIS 3002, the current installation standard, with your certificate issued on completion.
G99 DNO notification
Over 3.68kW per phase, work can't start until UK Power Networks Southern approves the connection, generally 6 to 16 weeks. We handle the submission and the chasing that follows.
Conservation-area check
Ramsgate's Royal Harbour conservation area, and its unusually high concentration of listed buildings, mean planning weighs heavily here. Rear or side roof slopes not facing the highway are usually permitted development; front-facing, highway-visible slopes normally need planning permission. Listed properties need listed building consent regardless, though this isn't automatically refused for a non-visible slope.

What you get, and what you're responsible for
A typical £12,000 solar-and-battery system currently pays 0% VAT (equipment and labour, provided you buy and install through the same company), rising to 5% from 1 April 2027. SEG export rates currently range roughly 1p to 32p per kWh across around thirty live tariffs, so which supplier you export to matters as much as the install itself. We'll size the system to your roof and usage honestly rather than oversell capacity you won't use.

How long does an MCS install take once DNO approval lands?
Physical installation is typically 1-2 days for a domestic roof. The variable is the G99 DNO approval wait beforehand, which we start as early as possible in the process.
What if my roof faces the street in a conservation area?
We check this before quoting. Options include a rear or side-slope-only install, an in-roof (integrated) system that some conservation officers view more favourably, or a formal planning application where the roof genuinely has no other viable slope.
Do you handle SEG tariff registration?
We provide the MCS certificate and installation documents you need to register; you choose your own SEG supplier since rates and terms change frequently and you're free to switch later without affecting the install.
